Terms of Use

Namepin for iOS & Android · beta · last updated 15 July 2026

The deal in one paragraph: Namepin is a personal memory app - you pin people you meet, privately, on your own device. You get a licence to use the app; your data is yours; don't use the app unlawfully; we provide it "as is" with sensible limits on our liability.

1. Who we are

Namepin is provided by Jason Bent, United Kingdom. Contact: hello@namepin.app.

2. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Namepin on devices you own or control, subject to these terms and the rules of the Apple App Store or Google Play (whose standard licence terms apply if stricter).

3. Your content

Everything you record in Namepin (names, notes, photos, voice notes, places) is your content and stays on your device. We claim no rights over it and have no access to it. You are responsible for it, including for recording information about other people lawfully and respectfully. Namepin is intended as a private, personal memory aid.

4. Acceptable use

Don't use Namepin to harass, stalk, or surveil anyone; don't attempt to reverse-engineer, resell, or misrepresent the app; don't use it in breach of applicable law.

5. Free tier and subscriptions

The free tier includes every feature for up to 10 people and 5 groups. Reaching a cap never takes anything away - everything you have already pinned stays fully usable, searchable and exportable; adding more requires a subscription. A paid subscription (when available) removes the caps and may add features such as sync and backup. Billing, renewal and cancellation will be handled by the App Store / Google Play under their terms; statutory refund rights are unaffected.

6. Your data and backups

Your data lives only on your device - there is no sync in this version. You are responsible for backups: use Settings → Export, and your device's own backup. If your phone is lost or the app is deleted, we cannot recover your data, because we never had it.

7. Beta software

During the beta, features may change and defects are likely. Export your data regularly.

8. Changes to the app and terms

We may update the app and these terms; material changes will be shown in-app or in release notes. We will not remove local-only core functionality behind an account requirement.

9. Disclaimers and liability

Namepin is provided "as is" without warranties beyond those that cannot be excluded by law. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, or that reminders will always be delivered (notification delivery is controlled by your device and OS). Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud). Otherwise, our total liability arising from the app is limited to the greater of £50 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for loss of data you did not back up, or for indirect or consequential loss.

10. Consumer rights and governing law

If you are a consumer in the UK or EU, you have statutory rights these terms do not limit. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales; consumers retain any mandatory protections and venue rights of their country of residence.
